The Plank Road Toll Houses Sold

Notes from an article in the Glens Falls Times of Wednesday January 20, 1904.

Supervisor William H. Rice today today sold at public auction the two toll houses formerly owned by the Glens Falls and Lake George Plank Road Co.  Purchasers were not very numerous.   The house at French Mountain on which there were several bids starting at $25 was struck off to H. G. Titus, Ridge Road for $125.

Offers on the house at this end of the road started at $150 and went up by $5 and $10 bids to $280 at which figure it was sold to George F. Greeno, the former toll keeper.  Both buildings will be removed at once.

NOTE:  If anyone knows what happened to these buildings, please contact The Corners Project at the Chapman Historical Museum.
