Empire Theatre Façade, 1914
Everything from vaudeville to live drama, to silent pictures are advertised in this wonderful image. A Romeo and Juliet type tale, based loosely on the Hatfield/McCoy feud, can be seen advertised in the large banner floating above the entrance, “The Great Leap/Till Death Do Us Part”. (Imdb). A broadside on the left promotes the theatrical antics of Mrs. Fiske, a member of the Manhattan Company. And, front and center, stands a horse drawn mobile billboard announcing the day’s vaudeville acts. There appears to be entertainment suited to everyone’s liking at the Empire.
