1868 Bedroom

In 1868, Glens Falls was slowly rebuilding following a fire that ravished the city four years earlier. Zopher Isaac DeLong, a hardware merchant, and his wife Catherine owned this property and finished renovating the home in 1868. In Victorian households, bedrooms were typically the only truly private area of the home. These were also versatile spaces — bedrooms were not just for sleeping but were also a space for sewing, reading, and relaxing as well as a room where babies were born, sick were attended, and where life came to an end.
