A lifelong resident of Warren County, James Frank Holley (1853-1942) maintained a successful photography career working primarily out of his studio in Chestertown, NY. Holley was a renaissance man, trying his hand at dentistry, clock repair, and as a commercial traveler for an assortment of products including bicycles, candy, groceries, and pianos. He operated a portrait gallery at his studio in the winter months but planned excursions for the warmer months. He traveled across Warren and Hamilton counties capturing scenes at places such as Blue Mountain Lake and Raquette Lake for his Adirondack Views series. Much like S.R. Stoddard, Holley photographed individuals, groups, and Adirondack locations throughout his career.
